Local students receive scholarships from Consolidated's Pioneer Club
MATTOON
– Ten area students recently received scholarships totaling $6,500 from the Iverson A. Lumpkin Pioneer Club at a reception held recently at Consolidated Communications.
The Mattoon-based chapter of the Pioneer Club is part of the national Telecomm
unications Pioneers organization and includes employees and retirees of Consolidated Communications. Since 1990, the club has awarded more than $93,750 in scholarships to some 140 students.
To be eligible for a scholarship, applicants must be a child or grandchild of a club member, have a 3.0 GPA and be enrolling in a two or four-year accredited college.
The recipients of the 2009 Iverson A. Lumpkin Pioneer Club scholarships include:

Kyle Connerly of Effingham. A graduate of
St.
Anthony
High School, Kyle plans to attend
Lake
Land
College. He is the son of Brad and Laura Connerly.

Michelle Dasenbrock of Effingham. A graduate of
St.
Anthony
High School, Michelle is the daughter of Bernice Dasenbrock and Dan Dasenbrock. She plans to attend Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.

Haley Cottet of
Mattoon. She is a graduate of
Mattoon
High School and plans to attend
Lake
Land
College. She is the daughter of Steve and Chris Cottet.

Alyssa Galioto of
Mattoon. Alyssa is a graduate of
Mattoon
High School who plans to attend
Lake
Land
College. She is the daughter of Kyla Orr.

Myles Womack of
Mattoon. Myles is a graduate of
Mattoon
High School and plans to attend the
University of
Illinois. He is the son of Stacy and Ellen Womack.

High School, John will be attending the

Phoenix. He is the son of Mike and Margy Hagan.

College. He is the son of Gary and Karen Louthan.

Mark Burton of Moweaqua. Mark is a graduate of

A&M
High School and plans to attend Southern Illinois University at
Carbondale. He is the son of David and Peggy Burton and the grandson of retiree Carol O’Neill.

High School and will be attending
Wabash
Valley
Community College. He is the son of Mark and Karen Park and grandson of Dean and Joyce Marshall. .
