MATTOON – Consolidated Communications announced it will be combining its Charleston Communication Center with its new Mattoon Communication Center at 1321 Charleston Avenue beginning June 1. The employees who work in the Charleston Communication Center will work from the new location or take other positions within the company’s Customer Service group.
The move was prompted by a steady increase in online bill payments and the removal of cellular sales from the center, said Gary Patrem, Director, Customer Service. "In the past year we’ve made a significant investment in a state-of-the-art facility in Mattoon to serve our customers. Combining the two centers will be a more efficient use of our employees and resources for our customers in Coles County," he said.
Consolidated Communications offers several methods for bill payment in addition to mailing a payment. The drop box outside the current Charleston Communication Center at 700 West Lincoln will remain in place for the convenience of Charleston customers and the company also offers E-Billing, Direct Pay and Pay By Phone.
The Mattoon Communication Center offers extended hours from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday. Customers can see demonstrations of the company’s Digital TV, Digital Phone and Internet services at the Mattoon center, pick up broadband equipment, make payments and speak with customer representatives.
