Consolidated Communications employees make donation to The Lighthouse Food Bank

GIBSONIA - Consolidated Communications employees recently donated more than $700 to the Lighthouse Food Bank in Butler, Pa., along with $200 worth of non-perishable food items.

The company’s Spirit Team raised the funds and donations through a Nintendo Wii Bowling Tournament for employees. The Consolidated Communications Spirit Team is a group of employees dedicated to supporting community efforts and encouraging fellowship at the company.

Linda Mamula, a Consolidated Communications employee and one of the organizers of the event, said she was proud of the support from many employees who participated in the tournament or made donations. “It was great to see our employees donating money and food items to help the Lighthouse Food Bank,” she said. “The company and our Spirit Team look forward to doing more events that help support organizations in our community.”

The Lighthouse Food bank has served more than 5.3 million pounds of food and some 182,000 meals since 1985. The Food Bank operates every Thursday evening and on alternate Friday mornings.

In addition to the Food Bank, The Lighthouse Foundation provides a Transitional Housing Program and offers used furniture, appliances and vehicles, computer classes and emergency monetary assistance for those in need.
