Area schools receive more than $118,680 from Consolidated‘s Earning for Learning program in 2008
MATTOON— Consolidated Communications donated more than $118,680 to local school districts and educational organizations through its Earning for Learning (EFL) program last year. Since 1993, the company has made more than $2.94 million in donations to local schools through the EFL program.
Consolidated’s EFL program returns 2.5 percent of long distance revenues and 2.5 percent of Internet service revenues quarterly to local school districts and education foundations. Local districts and education associations in the company’s East Region that participate in the program and the amount they received during 2008 include:
Arcola Community Unit #306, $2,884; Arthur EFL, $2,786; Atwood-Hammond, $1,903; Charleston Excellence in Education Foundation, $15,577; Gays Heritage Baptist Academy, $40; Mattoon Foundation for Academic Excellence, $16,438; Mattoon Pathways, $81; Mattoon St. John’s, $263; Mattoon St. Mary’s School, $360; Oakland Community Unit # 5, $2,415, and Windsor Community Unit #1, $2,739.
Local districts and education associations in the company’s South Region that participate in the program and the amount they received during 2008 include: Effingham Unit 40 Education Foundation, $6,962; St. Anthony School, $257; Sacred Heart School, $67; Sigel St. Michael, $1,030; Stewardson-Strasburg Community Unit School District, $2,749; and Stewardson Trinity Lutheran, $98.
Local districts and education associations in the company’s West Region that participate in the program and received funds in 2008 include: Assumption, $2,003; Cowden-Herrick, $1,723; Edinburg, $1,323; Farmersville St. Isidore, $40; Hillsboro District 3, $11,421; Southfork School District, $2,495; Litchfield Student Educational Foundation, $8,506; Litchfield Zion Lutheran, $183; Morrisonville Community Schools, $1,466; Nokomis, $3,774; Nokomis St. Louis School, $42; Pana Community School District $8,470; Pana First Baptist Christian Academy, $49; Pana Sacred Heart, $130; Panhandle Community Unit, $3,393; Shelbyville Community Schools, $6,883; and Taylorville Educational Foundation, $10,058; Taylorville St. Mary, $40; Taylorville VisionWay, $40.
In all, 36 districts received $118,685 from the EFL program in 2008 throughout the company’s service area.
Chris Niebrugge, product manager, said local residents can help out their schools if they use the company’s services. "We continue to encourage local residents to consider Consolidated Communications for their Long Distance and Internet services as a way to support their local schools through these supplemental funds." Niebrugge said.
Customers who have Consolidated Long Distance or subscribe to Consolidated’s Internet service are automatically enrolled in the program with contributions returned to their respective school districts.
