Engineer III
| Job Description: | - Serve as subject matter expert for Nortel DMS & Lucent 5E switching hardware & software. - Provide technical support for COS, CPS, CNS & other company dereg businesses, as well as ILEC & CLEC services. - Provide switch vendor interface & coordination for all switch projects. - Develop Engineering documentation for planning, installation testing, & implementation of new switch hardware & software upgrades. - Develop & implement switch software translations & data input for switch routing, trunking, centrex, screening, & line data changes. - Coordinate all switch hardware & software upgrade installation, testing, & activation. - Provide technical support for voice mail systems. - Provide technical support for all SS7 ISUP trunk signaling & TCAP query switch interfaces to STP’s and SCP’s for carrier, Operator Services, and Public Services systems. - Provide technical support for IT related to switch billing record issues. |
| Job Qualifications: | - Prefer 5 years telecom experience with Nortel DMS switch hardware and software. - Prefer 5 years experience with Nortel DMS switch translations - Knowledge of telecom switch signaling types - Knowledge of telecom SS7 trunk signaling & TCAP query network configuration and architecture. - Knowledge of telecom switch network interface facility types, DS1, DS3, OC3 fundamentals. - Knowledge of telecom switch interworkings to network equipment such as channel banks, DCS, MUX, etc. - Manage multiple projects and responsibilities. - Work in team environment, as well as independently - Strong organizational, time management, interpersonal, and service delivery skills. - Strong customer service and communications skills, both oral and written. |
